Sheriff Warns of Gas Theft

The skyrocketing gas prices are uncharted territory. There are more questions than answers. For example, older mechanical gas pumps aren't calibrated to handle the three dollar-plus prices. On Wednesday, St. Lawrence County's Department of Weights and Measures authorized some stations to sell gas by the half-gallon until they can update the control mechanisms on their pumps. Law enforcement agencies are warning the gas prices could cause more crime. Gas drive-offs are up. And the St. Lawrence County sheriff is warning people to lock their gas tanks, especially bulk tanks on farms. David Sommerstein reports.
