Mohawk "Prayer" Banned in Schools
Sep 19, 2005 — A federal judge ruled last week that reciting the pledge of allegiance in public schools was unconstitutional. Meanwhile, here at home, another legal battle is waging over a different morning recital in the classroom. The Salmon River School District banned a traditional Mohawk recitation of thanksgiving. They say it's a prayer and doesn't belong on school time. Parents are suing, saying their "morning message" is not a prayer at all. Gregory Warner reports.
