Nov 22, 2005 — The Adirondack Medical Center has decided to buy the only two nursing homes in the Tri-Lakes area. Mercy Healthcare Center in Tupper Lake and Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid have been losing money for years, due in part to declining Medicaid reimbursement rates for their patients. The buyout means both will stay open. As Chris Knight reports, the deal has seen strong support from the community.
