Heard up North: North Country Rivals Face Off in Potsdam

Listen to this story
One of the great rivalries of college hockey continues tomorrow night when St. Lawrence skaters travel 10 miles further north to Clarkson University in Potsdam. St. Lawrence stands 3rd in the ECAC. St. Lawrence also has one of the hottest scorers in the eastern college league. Clarkson, always a threat, is in the middle of the pack -- 8th out of 12 teams. Last year, St. Lawrence whomped Clarkson 7-2 when the teams met at Cheel Arena. This year could see a like result, a reversal, or anything in between. The scores change, but much about the rivalry remains the same. So, just to give a taste of what tomorrow will sound like, David Sommerstein was in the Clarkson arena for last year's SLU win. He took his seat just as the game was about to start. The Clarkson Knight mascot jumped out of the Zamboni, the lights dimmed low, and the players burst onto the ice. David produced this audio snapshot.
