Alcoa Workers Fear Worst as Deadline Looms
May 31, 2006 — Alcoa and the United Steelworkers of America are locked in last-minute talks in St. Louis over a new contract. The current contract covers 9,000 workers at 15 plants, including the two Alcoa plants in Massena. The two sides remain far apart on health care and retirement packages. As David Sommerstein reports, both are prepared for a strike.
