StoryCorps: Mohawk ironworker remembers 9/11

Listen to this story
Inside soundproof booths across the country, friends and loved ones are interviewing each other about their lives. The booths belong to StoryCorps, a project that collects the stories of everyday people in order to create an oral history of America. One of these mobile recording studios was in Canton earlier this summer and among its visitors were Michael Swamp and his son, Nolan, from the Akwesasne Mohawk Reservation. Michael is the business manager for Ironworkers Local 440 and he talked with his son about the job and the important role ironworkers played five years ago in lower Manhattan.
