Sweeney refuses to debate Gillibrand

Listen to this story
Former President Bill Clinton will campaign in Latham today, stumping for Democratic challenger Kirsten Gillibrand. Gillibrand hopes to unseat incumbent Republican John Sweeney. The Glens Falls Post Star had scheduled a debate between the two candidates for this evening. But Sweeney announced this week that he wouldn't face Gillibrand. Sweeney also failed to appear at a debate on Monday held by the League of Women Voters in Saratoga County. Gillibrand took to the stage alone, addressing a small audience. As Brian Mann reports, the lack of a face-to-face meeting is the latest development in one of the nation's most toxic congressional races.
