Debating Lake Placid's cost and effect
Dec 20, 2006 — This year, Lake Placid's sports and tourism venues received more than $40 million in state subsidies. That's roughly $15 thousand for every man, woman and child living inside the village limits. Governor George Pataki has described Lake Placid as an economic engine that helps drive the entire Adirondack economy. But as he leaves office next week, some are asking whether the massive public investment in the Olympic village has paid off. Brian Mann has our story.
