Downtown Carthage, five years later
Feb 09, 2007 — Downtown Carthage is trying to rebound from a fire that gutted half a block of the historic village five years ago. Today the site of the fire is a parking lot. Plans to build a nursing home there seem to have stalled. Carthage was a paper mill town for decades. Now it's being reborn as a bedroom community for the growing military population at Fort Drum.
