Apr 25, 2007 — Recent high winds and relatively low humidity allowed a number of fires to spring up, mostly in the northwest corner of the North Country. A red flag warning, with a "no-burn" order, is in effect for St Lawrence County. Some residents ignored the order and fire departments dealt with 28 calls over the weekend and another 11 Monday. That's according to Craig Ballard, deputy director of the County's Emergency Services.
