May 01, 2007 — Tourism in the North Country increased over the past three years, but not much. The Northern New York Travel and Tourism Research Center released a study today showing a 3% rise in visitors and a 3% growth in revenue in the Adirondacks. The study measured tourists' spending and its impact on jobs and wages during 2006. Ann Melious is executive director of the Adirondack Regional Tourism Council. She says this follow-up to an identical study conducted in 2003 was meant to identify trends and opportunities for tourism-related industries, but she tells Jonathan Brown that the slight variations between the two studies don't reveal much.
