Preview: Ostentatious Poverty in Burlington
Jun 01, 2007 — A new musical theatre work debuts in Burlington this weekend. Ostentatious Poverty mingles idioms from jazz, economic theory and the theatre. It's part of the Burlington Discover Jazz Festival. Vermont jazz artist Patricia Julien composed the music. Todd Moe spoke with writer/director Rachel Perlmeter, who says it's a jazz-play, an economical quartet. She says the show samples notions of chaos in economics and music, improvisation and game theory, language and noise.
