Listen to this story
The proposed Lake Placid branch of the Adirondack Museum was debated by a crowd of more than 60 local residents at a public hearing last week. The Lake Placid-North Elba Joint Review Board is trying to determine whether the building's modern design meets the architectural standards and other requirements of the local land use code. While some neighbors described it as "radical" and "out of character" with the village, as Chris Knight reports, supporters of the project are asking the planning board to look beyond the land use code.
