GOP rallies behind Renzi against Aubertine

Less than a month ago, North Country Republicans were floating lots of names to take on Democrat Darrel Aubertine in November. Senator Aubertine upset Will Barclay in a bruising and costly special election last winter. Even former Senator Jim Wright said he might abandon his new lobbying job to win back his old seat. And he faired well in a failed Assembly candidacy in 2002. Since announcing his candidacy for Senate, Renzi has been openly critical of the failed Barclay campaign, which was run by powerful Albany insiders and featured negative attack ads from the get-go. Renzi spoke with David Sommerstein last week.  Go to full article
