Adirondack Attic: burl wood belt cup
Sep 14, 2011 — In the old days, when it was still safe to drink from rivers and lakes, travelers used burl wood belt or canoe cups. Most were exquisitely hand-carved wooden "travel" cups. Adirondack Museum hires new director
Aug 04, 2011 — Eight months after the Adirondack Museum's last permanent director, Caroline Welsh, stepped aside, the institution in Blue Mountain Lake has named a new leader.
Board president Kevin Arquit made the announcement on Wednesday, calling the hire of David Kahn "an exciting time for the Adirondack Museum."
The museum, founded in 1957, is one of the region's leading cultural institutions. Martha Foley has details. Go to full article

Jul 27, 2007 — Saranac Lake Writer and photographer Andy Flynn continues his research this summer into some of the little know artifacts stored at the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake. For the last few years he has written a weekly newspaper column called "Adirondack Attic" and a series of books of the same name. Andy's research takes him into the museum's archives and storage spaces and sometimes items on permanent display. Todd Moe caught up with him to talk about his books, the Adirondack Attic History Project and some of the items in the museum's 50th anniversary exhibit. Go to full article
Adirondack Museum unveils "bold" design for Lake Placid
Apr 05, 2007 — The Adirondack Museum unveiled the proposed design yesterday for a new branch in Lake Placid. After fifty years in Blue Mountain Lake, the Museum hopes to find a new audience in the region's most heavily-visited tourist mecca. Lowville's Henry Beach, A Photographer Rediscovered
Jun 28, 2004 — This summer, the Adirondack Museum is featuring the work of Lowville photographer Henry Beach. Beach was a commercial photographer in the late 1800s and early decades of the 20th century. He made a living producing postcards and documenting life in the Adirondack Mountains.
