Dec 13, 2002 — At its meeting today in Ray Brook, the Adirondack Park Agency is expected to approve a new emergency phone system on I-87. The old network hasn't functioned properly for years. As Brian Mann reports, the upgraded system will also mean better cell phone coverage in the remote area between Schroon Lake and Peru.  Go to full article

Dec 13, 2002 — The Adirondack Park Agency moved a step closer on Thursday to banning floatplanes on Lowes Lake. At the meeting yesterday, the Department of Environmental Conservation presented its plan for the Bog River management area, southwest of Tupper Lake.  Go to full article

Nov 15, 2002 — The Adirondack Park Agency commission got a first look at a new plan for the Bog River and Lowe's Lake on Thursday. The plan -- for an area near Tupper Lake -- includes a restriction on commercial floatplane use. As Brian Mann reports, the Agency won't vote on the proposal until January.  Go to full article

Nov 14, 2002 — The Adirondack Park Agency's veteran chairman - Dick Lefebvre - says he'll retire after this week's meeting in Ray Brook. After a decade with the Agency, Lefebvre is seen as a peacemaker. His work brought new credibility to a controversial agency, charged with protecting the environment inside the blue line. Oct 31, 2002 — On Wednesday (Oct. 30) the Adirondack Park Agency staff approved a permit for a new 97-room hotel in Lake George. Oct 23, 2002 — Each year, people come from around the world to study the Adirondack Park. Environmentalists see this region's mix of wilderness and small communities as a model for conservation - especially in the developing world. Usually, these groups meet with scientists and park officials. But this month, a group called "Future Generations" has been meeting with shop owners and home makers and factory workers. Oct 14, 2002 — A six million dollar resort project in Lake George is sparking fierce controversy inside the Adirondack Park Agency. At a meeting Friday, commissioners agreed to fast track the permit process for a new hotel, proposed by former Park Agency chairman Bob Flacke.
