Historic Hyde House Reopens in Glens Falls
May 21, 2004 — After 18 months of expansion, renovation and restoration, the Hyde House in Glens Falls reopens to the public Saturday. Built in 1912, by Charlotte and Louis Hyde, the home has been a centerpiece of the Hyde Collection of fine art and antiques for decades. Choosing Films for LP Festival, an Art in Itself
May 18, 2004 — The Lake Placid Film Festival has unveiled a schedule of more than sixty features and documentaries, including twelve world premieres. The cornerstone event will be the appearance of acclaimed director Martin Scorcese. There will also be plenty of independent and foreign films. Nov 28, 2003 — Just as the oven begins to cool from the Thanksgiving feast, comes another seasonal favorite - Holiday baking. Fruitcakes, cookies and sweets are an annual tradition in many households this time of year. During the month of December, visitors to the Traditional Arts In Upstate New York, or TAUNY, gallery in Canton will be asked to vote for their favorite gingerbread house. Late last month a group of eager gingerbread bakers gathered in Canton to learn some secrets of making gingerbread houses - from cabins to castles. Preview: Chaos Theory Dance
Oct 03, 2003 — Choreographer Billbob Brown and his dance company, Chaos Theory Dance, will perform at SUNY-Potsdam's College Theatre in Satterlee Hall Saturday night at 8. Chaos Theory Dance is a science and video based dance collective. Brown has been working this week with Potsdam dance students who will premiere a new work Saturday night. A North Country angler and artist who spends most of his time on Lake Ontario turns junk found along the shoreline into fish sculptures. It's just one of the hobbies that keeps Tom Bintz, aka Captain Honk, busy as he divides his time between fishing, travel, art and demolition derby competitions from the North Country to the Florida Keys. For the Love of Wood: Adirondack Carousel's Creatures Come to Life
Jul 30, 2003 — Work is underway on a menagerie of wooden figures that will be displayed in the Adirondack Carousel in Saranac Lake. Organizers say the carousel building, still in the planning stages, will incorporate the fun of a traditional merry-go-round with the look of an Adirondack camp. It will include 20 indigenous animals. Carvers from across New York and the country are donating their time and talents to create the carousel animals. But you won't find any horses in this collection, instead there's a beaver, raccoon, eagle, loon, trout and even a blackfly. People: Paul Deo, Neo Soul Artist, Visits SUNY-Potsdam
Nov 21, 2002 — Paul Deo, an accomplished Neo Soul Artist and filmmaker, is visiting SUNY Potsdam this week, conducting workshops, working with students to create a mural, and putting on an art show. Throughout this week he's working with the Caribbean and Latin American Student Society, as well as other art students, to create and install a mural in the Ethnic Lounge of Unity at SUNY Potsdam.
Deo says his artwork is a combination of his own reality and imagination. He told Todd Moe he grew up in New York City and now lives in New Orleans. Go to full article

Canton Celebrates Frederic Remington's Birthday
Oct 03, 2002 — Frederic Remington's birthday will be celebrated this weekend in Canton with two days full of events and exhibits for artists, art lovers and history buffs.
