Plattsburgh commemorates War of 1812 victory
Plattsburgh, NY, Sep 12, 2012 — Tuesday was the 198th anniversary of the Battle of Plattsburgh. In 1814, British and American forces clashed on Lake Champlain and in the city of Plattsburgh. The Americans prevailed, and the war ended two months later.
This year is also the bicentennial of the start of the war, and for the past two weeks, Plattsburgh has hosted a series of commemorative events, including concerts, lectures and dances. It even opened a temporary tavern serving period fare. The celebrations culminated this past weekend with re-enactments on water and land and a downtown parade. Go to full article

Battle of Plattsburgh heroes inspire new music
Sep 07, 2006 — Battle of Plattsburgh commemorative events are underway this week in Plattsburgh and nearby communities. Last Thursday night, Atlantic Crossing, a Vermont English and Contra dance band performed live during "Open Studio", NCPR's monthly arts program. Fiddler Viveka Fox introduces the tune "MacDonough's Fleet", which pays tribute to some unsung heroes. Go to full article
