May 17, 2005 — An appeals court has once again upheld the most serious convictions in the Jeffrey Glanda murder trial. Glanda was sentenced to life in prison without parole for murdering his estranged wife. He was also convicted of attempted murder after ramming a Lake Placid police car. Apr 07, 2005 — Essex County District attorney Ronald Briggs says he's still deciding whether to seek re-election. Briggs, a three-term incumbent, lost the endorsement of the county's Republican committee last week. GOP leaders shocked political observers by supporting Julie Garcia, an attorney from Schroon Lake.
