Students Respond to the Terrorist Attacks

Todd Moe visited St. Lawrence University and SUNY Potsdam to see how student communities were coping with and responding to the terrrorist attacks. St. Lawrence University students formed a peace circle. SUNY Potsdam has organized seminars, and students have have staffed a table in the Student Center since Tuesday afternoon to raise money for victims' families.  Go to full article

Union Voted in at United Helpers

United Helpers Canton Nursing home workers voted in favor of unionization on Friday, during an election overseen by the National Labor Relations Board. About 140 Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nurses Assistants and other support staff will now be part of the Service Employees International Union. Jody Tosti reports.  Go to full article

United Helpers Canton Nursing Home Employees to Vote on Unionization

The SEIU, which represents hospital and nursing home workers in northern New York is calling on legislators to adopt regulations guaranteeing adequate staffing at nursing homes. Employees at the United Helpers Canton Nursing Home could be a part of that effort, if they vote in favor of unionization next month.  Go to full article
