Second Major Housing Development Planned for Adirondacks, In Jay
Dec 31, 2004 — The Adirondacks have seen a housing boom over the last five years. Hundreds of new vacation homes and condos have been built, usually on single lots or in small subdivisions. Major developers are now proposing massive housing projects inside the park. One 800-home vacation resort in Tupper Lake is now under review by the Adirondack Park Agency. County Governments Oppose Mohawk Land Deal
Nov 19, 2004 — Legislators in Frankln County voted unanimously Thursday to oppose a land claims settlement between the state and the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe. County officials say a ten million dollars payment meant to offset the loss of taxes isn't big enough. New Power Line to Connect St. Lawrence County, Tri-Lakes
Nov 04, 2004 — Locals in Tupper Lake and Lake Placid hope to end electricity shortages by extending a power line from St. Lawrence County. State Senator Betty Little is supporting a plan that would build a new line from Newton Falls, down through Cranberry Lake, and on to Tupper Lake. Adirondack Towns Consider New County
Apr 14, 2004 — Local leaders in 10 Adirondack towns are thinking about breaking away to form their own county. It would include towns that are now part of Essex and Franklin counties. UV Disinfection of Lake Placid Wastewater Funded
Apr 06, 2004 — A sewage feud in the Adirondacks moved one step closer to resolution this week. Congressman John Sweeney says $1.4 million in federal money will go to upgrade Lake Placid's new sewage treatment plant. The money will be spent on an experimental system designed to disinfect wasterwater before it flows into the Chubb and the Ausable rivers.
