Record Number of People using Homeless Shelters and Soup Kitchens

There have been a record number of people seeking help at homeless shelters and soup kitchens in New York throughout the winter. At one free breakfast program in downtown Albany, attendance has been growing. It reached an all time record high a few days before Easter. The churches who run the program aren't exactly sure why. Cardinal Egan Lobbies Against Contraceptive Coverage Measure

The state's Catholic Bishops and Cardinal Edward Egan came to Albany to lobby against a Senate bill that would require some Catholic run schools and hospitals to pay for contraceptive coverage for employees.
