Preview: Civil War Weekend in Massena

NCPR is Media Sponsor for the St. Lawrence County Historical Association's Civil War Reenactment and Living History Weekend, this Saturday and Sunday at Robert Moses State Park in Massena. Events will include Civil War era displays and exhibits, mock battles, activities for children and an open air quilting and stitching show. Preview: Civil War Weekend in Massena

One of the largest Civil War reenactments in the region takes place at Robert Moses State Park in Massena this weekend. Music, cannon fire, military drills and campfire stories are part of the event. More than 5,000 men from St. Lawrence County enlisted in the Civil War, and New York contributed more soldiers to the war than any other state. Todd Moe caught up with John Baylis, of Cassville, NY, during last summer's event. Baylis, who has studied Lincoln's life for years, will portray "Honest Abe" again this weekend.  Go to full article
