NY23 Race: Hoffman takes on government spending & GOP "party bosses"

Last year, Lake Placid accountant Doug Hoffman emerged as a symbol of the national tea party movement. In the 23rd district special election, the Conservative candidate toppled Republican Dede Scozzafava, before falling short in his race against Democrat Bill Owens.

This year, Hoffman is back and he's running in the Republican primary against Watertown businessman Matthew Doheny. In the early going, Doheny has out-fundraised Hoffman. Doheny has also picked up far more support from local Republican leaders, who chair county committees in the district. But Doug Hoffman says his campaign will once again tap into grassroots anger at Washington DC.
