DEC Truck Crashes on Vandalized Bridge in Disputed Champion Lands
Sep 30, 2005 — State officials are investigating the vandalism of two bridges in the Champion Easement lands near Santa Clara in the northern Adirondacks. One of the bridges collapsed earlier this month, causing a state Environmental Conservation dump truck to roll into the St. Regis River. The driver of the truck wasn't injured. Prisoner Assaults Two COs at Great Meadow
Sep 30, 2005 — A prisoner attacked and injured two corrections officers at a maximum security prison near Glens Falls Monday morning. Sheriff Warns of Gas Theft
Sep 02, 2005 — The skyrocketing gas prices are uncharted territory. There are more questions than answers. For example, older mechanical gas pumps aren't calibrated to handle the three dollar-plus prices. On Wednesday, St. Lawrence County's Department of Weights and Measures authorized some stations to sell gas by the half-gallon until they can update the control mechanisms on their pumps. Law enforcement agencies are warning the gas prices could cause more crime. Gas drive-offs are up. And the St. Lawrence County sheriff is warning people to lock their gas tanks, especially bulk tanks on farms. David Sommerstein reports. Go to full article
DA Race Shapes Up in St. Lawrence County
Jul 13, 2005 — The district attorney race in St. Lawrence County is set. Last week, Democrats endorsed court attorney Nicole Duve to face acting district attorney Gary Miles. New York State Forest Ranger Arrested for Sexual Assault on Children

Doctor Busted in Prescription Drug Ring
May 20, 2005 — State police arrested a Gouverneur doctor and her assistant Wednesday for allegedly providing prescriptions for drug addicts and dealers. Doctor Gail DeHart and her office manager Joan Kingdon operated a private practice from the doctor's home. Dr. DeHart had worked in the past at E.J. Noble Hospital and at a clinic in Edwards. The two face charges of criminal sale of a controlled substance. Officials say she billed the drugs to the taxpayer-funded Medicaid system. The state attorney general's office may press charges of fraud. David Sommerstein spoke with St. Lawrence County acting District Attorney Gary Miles. He says Dr. DeHart was prescribing large amounts of painkillers, like Oxycontin and morphine, to dozens of patients. Go to full article
Glanda Murder Convictions Upheld
May 17, 2005 — An appeals court has once again upheld the most serious convictions in the Jeffrey Glanda murder trial. Glanda was sentenced to life in prison without parole for murdering his estranged wife. He was also convicted of attempted murder after ramming a Lake Placid police car. As Brian Mann reports, one count of reckless endangerment was dismissed last week on a technicality. Go to full article
Police Seek Stolen Morphine Patches
Mar 30, 2005 — St. Lawrence County police are looking for up to 50 morphine patches and painkillers. Several teens stole the drugs from a house Friday night. As David Sommerstein reports, three teens overdosed on the drugs at a party. One remains in the hospital. Go to full article
