"New York Remembers" exhibit commemorates 9/11 in Lake Placid

(09/09/11) Museums, government buildings, and college campuses across New York state, are hosting a special exhibit memorializing the Sept. 11 attacks.

30 sites are displaying "New York Remembers." The exhibit features artifacts from the terrorist attacks, including rescue equipment, pieces of the World Trade Center buildings, and other items from ground zero.

The Olympic Center in Lake Placid is hosting one of the exhibitions. Chris Morris was at a special ceremony at the exhibit earlier this week and has this report... more

Congressman-elect Bill Owens, campaigning yesterday in Saranac Lake
(11/04/09) For the first time since before the civil war, much of the North Country woke up this morning with a Democratic Congressman. Bill Owens defeated Conservative Doug Hoffman, 49 to 46 percent, in the 23rd district special election, with 95% of precincts reporting. Republican Dede Scozzafava, who abruptly dropped out over the weekend, still captured 6% of the vote. Hoffman conceded last night. The historic race featured millions of dollars in attack ads, appearances by the nation's biggest political figures, and a fight for the identity of the Republican party. David Sommerstein was at Owens headquarters in Plattsburgh and has this story.
