Cuomo Quits Gubernatorial Race

Andrew Cuomo has dropped out of the Democratic primary for governor of New York and has thrown his support behind opponent Carl McCall. Flanked by former president Bill Clinton and New York Congressman Charles Wrangle, Cuomo said he decided to drop out of the race rather than run a negative campaign against McCall, who was far ahead in the polls to win the primary. Governor's Race: First Democratic Debate

Andrew Cuomo says he'll focus his criticism on Carl McCall's job performance as state comptroller for the past eight years.
Cuomo is trailing McCall in the polls. The two are competing for the Democratic nomination for governor. The latest poll shows McCall leading Cuomo 47 percent to 31 percent among Democrats. Karen Dewitt has more.  Go to full article

Democrats Quell Party In-Fighting

This week leaders of the state Democratic party tried to quell in-fighting among the two Democratic candidates and to unify to fight against Governor Pataki in November's election. While the Democrats struggled, the object of their ire was on vacation in the Finger Lakes. State Lawmakers Agree on Congressional Redistricting

Legislative leaders have announced agreement on a Congressional redistricting plan that's designed to get rid of one Congressional representative from each major party. McCall Impresses St. Lawrence County Dems

State comptroller and Democratic candidate for Governor Carl McCall made his first campaign swing through St. Lawrence County on Friday. He impressed party faithful with his fiscal experience and his stance on education. Strong winds forced McCall's airplane to abandon a planned stop in Hamilton County. NY's Democratic Party Chair Visits Canton
