Hudson River guide pleads guilty after client drowns

A rafting guide from North Creek has pleaded guilty to criminal negligent homicide following the death of a client on a tributary of the Hudson River this fall.

Rory Fay of North Creek is expected to serve roughly a year behind bars after guiding a party while intoxicated.  Go to full article

Paul Smiths mourns students

Students, faculty and administration from Paul Smith's College came together Sunday to try and begin the healing process after the death of two students in a boating accident Friday night on Lower St. Regis Lake. Nearly 900 people attended a "community gathering" on campus to remember the lives of 20 year-old Sean Cornell of Manchester Center, Vermont and 18 year-old Lee Walker of Enosburg Falls, Vermont. As Chris Knight reports, the two young men apparently drowned when their canoes overturned as they were returning from a party on the opposite side of the lake.  Go to full article
