Lt. Gov. pick only surprise expected at NYS Democratic convention

The Democrats are holding their party convention on Long Island this week. Gov. Andrew Cuomo will be nominated to run for a second term as governor on Thursday. Before that happens, two other incumbents will be endorsed for second full term: State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli and Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.

The only surprise expected at the convention is the announcement of Cuomo's running mate. Several names have been mentioned to replace Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy, who has opted not to seek a second term. The governor and his aides have been keeping the name close to the vest, and are expected to reveal their choice later Wednesday.  Go to full article

Regional councils ready to compete
