Restoring the Past: The Edwards Opera House
Aug 22, 2003 — Old opera houses are hot in the North Country. Clayton, Heuvelton and now Edwards have rediscovered the elaborate stages of their pasts. The Edwards Arts Council has begun raising money to restore its historic opera hall, on the second floor of the Edwards Town Hall. Built in 1896, after a fire destroyed much of downtown Edwards, the opera house is in surprisingly good shape. There's a bluegrass benefit concert Saturday night at 7pm in the historic opera house.
