The Bush Administration wants to cut subsidies that help low-income families pay their energy bills. Coming Soon: Emergency & Cell Phone Service on Northway

At its meeting today in Ray Brook, the Adirondack Park Agency is expected to approve a new emergency phone system on I-87. The old network hasn't functioned properly for years. As Brian Mann reports, the upgraded system will also mean better cell phone coverage in the remote area between Schroon Lake and Peru.  Go to full article

Hunter?s Body Found Near Inlet

The search for a missing hunter in Hamilton County ended Wednesday afternoon, after three grueling days. Despite a foot of fresh snow and sub-zero temperatures, rescue workers located the body of 58-year-old Arthur Birchmeyer. The Syracuse man disappeared on Saturday in a remote area of the cemtral Adirondacks. As Brian Mann reports, forest rangers suspect that Birchmeyer died of hypothermia or natural causes.  Go to full article

Search Underway: Hunter Lost In Hamilton County

State and local authorities are searching for a hunter lost in the town of Inlet. A 58-year-old man from Syracuse was last seen early Saturday morning, hunting deer in the Moose River Plains Wild Forest. Brian Mann reports.  Go to full article

Washington County Fire Kills 4 Children

Officials in Washington County say a house fire early Tuesday morning was the deadliest in the last ten years. Four children were killed in the blaze, which burned a home in Fort Edward. Brian Mann has details.  Go to full article

Trail Derails Saturday In Westport: Emergency Alert, No Injuries

A train derailed in Westport on Saturday, spilling a flammable chemical over a seven-mile stretch of the rail bed. Emergency crews battled a small forest fire, triggered by the accident.
