Firefighters warn of July 4 fireworks hazards

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) The New York firefighters' association is urging people to leave Fourth of July fireworks to the professionals.

The Firemen's Association of the State of New York says that attending public fireworks displays is the safest way to celebrate the upcoming holiday. The group said fireworks are illegal to own or use by anyone other than licensed professionals in New York.  Go to full article

Fireworks Craftsman May Have Trouble Continuing Explosive Hobby

Tonight's fireworks show in St Regis Falls was designed and handmade by Peter Henry, a pharmacist at Adirondack Medical Center. He makes fireworks out of his home workshop in Brighton. This weekend, towns and villages around the north country will celebrate the 4th of July with glorious fireworks displays. Rockets and sparklers are a holiday tradition, but they're also an ancient form of art, dating back nearly two thousand years.
