Celia Evans: songs that celebrate gratitude, love, life
(10/01/10) Adirondack folk singer Celia Evans celebrated a CD release party on-air during the Eight O'Clock Hour this morning. Her third cd is an album of simple folk melodies, both traditional and contemporary, and a few folk rock tunes, too. She told Todd Moe that Hardwood includes music that celebrates gratitude, family, love and observations over the past few years.

Live on Friday: Scott Shipley
(11/20/09) Singer/songwriter Scott Shipley is out with a new cd, Meaning What Exactly, and will celebrate its release at a benefit concert Saturday night (7:30) at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Canton. The concert's proceeds will go to Hospice of Northern New York. Scott and bandmate John Richey joined Todd Moe in the NCPR studio for music and conversation.

(01/09/09) The members of the band Toughcats aren't strangers to rural settings. They're from North Haven, an island in Penobscot Bay, Maine, and have performed in fields, bars and boats. You'll hear their music in Lowville as part of the Black River Valley Concert series this Saturday night. Todd Moe spoke with band member Colin Gulley about the inspiration for the acoustic trio's brand of bluegrass, folk and rock.

(01/04/08) Singer/songwriter Jamie Savage says his love for nature and the culture of the Adirondacks inspires his music. Savage is an experienced climber who's traveled to many mountain ranges though he feels the Adirondacks are the most beautiful. He teaches at the ranger school in Wanakena. His music has been heard in coffee houses and on concert stages from Watertown to Burlington, and he was one of the musicians featured in NCPR's UpNorth Music Project last year. Jamie Savage joins Todd Moe in the studio to talk about his recently released second recording, "Hey Music."
