Inlet regains world's largest raft title in cancer fundraiser event
Feb 16, 2012 — A small Adirondack community has reclaimed its world record for the largest raft of canoes, kayaks and guideboats.
Last September, Inlet's "One Square Mile of Hope" committee organized the flotilla on Fourth Lake as part of an event to raise money for breast cancer awareness.
Adele Burnett, Tourism Director for the Town of Inlet, helped organize the event. She says her group recently received official notification from Guiness World Records that they are back in the record book. Go to full article

A kick, and lots of bucks, at donkey b-ball
Mar 11, 2008 — Forget about all those bake sales and bottle drives. A hallowed tradition of North Country school fundraisers is donkey basketball. A private company trucks a team of donkeys clad with rubber hoofs to the school gym for hoops, kicks, and lots of bucks. Cool Fundraiser
Feb 27, 2002 — The annual Polar Bear Dip netted over 6-thousand dollars this year for the Colton Rescue Squad. The fundraiser was held Sunday at the Shoreline Restaurant in Hannawa Falls. Sunny skies and mild temperatures were on tap for the 30 dippers who plunged into the icy waters of the Raquette River. Jody Tosti visited the Raquette River during last year's Polar Bear Dip. Former Housing and Urban Development secretary Andrew Cuomo charged up Democrats in Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence counties with promises of an economic rebound, traditional liberal values, and renewed attention for an area often lost in downstate issues.
