Gillibrand wants food stamps, milk price reform in Farm Bill

Congress is back to work on a new five year Farm Bill. The Senate passed one last year, but the House of Representatives couldn't agree on the size of cuts to the food stamp program and other issues.

Gillibrand pushes manufacturing bill in Ticonderoga

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand was in Ticonderoga, NY, yesterday, working to build support for a new measure that aims to boost high-tech manufacturing.

Gillibrand winds landslide victory in US Senate Race

Democratic New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand won a landslide victory over Republican Wendy Long on Tuesday. By some reports, Gillibrand won the largest percentage in New York history. Gillibrand got 72 percent of the vote, capturing 60 of the state's 62 counties.  Go to full article

Cuomo calls Sandy damage "breathtaking" from above

Governor Cuomo took a helicopter tour Wednesday of areas devastated by Hurricane Sandy, along with New York's Senators Schumer and Gillibrand.

He says the state faces "significant" challenges to rebuild, and will have to "fundamentally" rethink New York City's infrastructure going forward.  Go to full article

New poll predicts huge win for Gillibrand in U.S. Senate race

A new poll finds that Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is poised for a record breaking win on Election Day, with a more than 40 point lead over Republican challenger Wendy Long.  Go to full article

Senate candidate opposes abortion, even in rape cases

Republican Wendy Long says she thinks abortion should be illegal in the US, even in cases when the pregnancy results from rape.

Long is running for the US Senate against Democratic incumbent Kirsten Gillibrand, who is pro-choice.

Abortion and rape have become major issues on the campaign trail, as more Republican Senate candidates have embraced the idea that women who are victims of sexual violence should be denied access to abortions.

The latest Siena Research Institute poll, released Friday morning, shows Long winning support from just 24 percent of voters in New York. Gillibrand is winning 67 percent of the vote.  Go to full article
