APA set to approve new I-87 "frankenpine" cell tower; safety cited as priority

New Lake Placid Resorts Mean Competition For Mom & Pop Hotels

The North Country's newest luxury resort is nearing completion in Lake Placid. Whiteface Lodge will offer hotel rooms and condominiums. There will also be a year-round ice rink, a spa and even a movie theater. Construction of another luxury hotel has just begun on the opposite side of the village. Tourism experts say more of the region's visitors are looking for this kind of high-end extravagance. APA: Controversial Hotel Approved in Lake George

On Wednesday (Oct. 30) the Adirondack Park Agency staff approved a permit for a new 97-room hotel in Lake George.
