How one Adironack mystery novel came to be
Lake Clear, NY, Feb 07, 2013 — Like the protagonist in his debut novel, Here Be Monsters, Jamie Sheffield spent his childhood in New York City, and "escaped" to the Adirondacks later in life.

Airport the focus in Harrietstown race
Lake Clear, NY, Oct 02, 2012 — While races for president, Congress, Assembly and other offices are sure to draw voters to the polls next month, a local campaign in the Saranac Lake area has also been sparking a lot of debate.
Two candidates who are veterans of the local political scene are vying to be supervisor of the town of Harrietstown.

New committee will consider future of Lake Clear airport
Lake Clear, NY, Jan 30, 2012 — Officials in Harrietstown have organized a new citizens committee to study the cost and future management of the Adirondack Regional Airport in Lake Clear. Police, Forest Rangers find body of missing Lake Clear woman
Rochester, NY, Aug 26, 2010 — An Adirondack woman missing since the weekend was found dead yesterday after an intensive search north of Saranac Lake. Lake Clear school to close
Oct 02, 2008 — Another North Country school is closing its doors for good. At the end of the current school year, students at Lake Clear Elementary -- part of the Saranac Lake Central School District -- will be sent to other buildings. Apr 23, 2008 — NCPR is media sponsor for "Local Foods Connections," three events in early May celebrating the agriculture of the North Country with a focus on local food and the farm-to-table movement. The events will feature food experts, farmers, chefs and business people working toward local food sustainability. Debate continues over closing Lake Clear?s elementary school
Feb 21, 2008 — A consultant hired by the Saranac Lake School Board outlined options for possible downsizing of the Saranac Lake School District at a school board meeting last night. Management Advisory Group is recommending the district close Lake Clear Elementary School due to declining enrollment. About 40 Lake Clear parents and other district residents showed up at last night's meeting, most objecting to the closing of their neighborhood school. Big sky Airlines collapse part of national trend
Jan 21, 2008 — Since airline de-regulation in the 1970s, America's small towns have struggled to find companies and passengers willing to use their airports. Here in the North Country, five airports are currently without service following the collapse of Big Sky airlines. Two new carriers have applied to take over those routes. But as Brian Mann reports, the number of airlines willing to serve rural airports is dwindling, despite Federal subsidies that total more than 100 million dollars a year. Go to full article
Big Sky begins north country flights
Nov 01, 2007 — Big Sky Airlines began flying planes yesterday out of the Adirondack Regional Airport in Lake Clear and the Plattsburgh Airport. Operating as a Delta connection, Big Sky will provide three round trip flights each weekday and each weekend to Boston. As Chris Knight reports from Saranac Lake, business leaders and elected officials are optimistic the service will be used by local residents and tourists. Go to full article
