Lake Luzerne-Hadley, NY, Dec 21, 2012 — You don't have to be a child to enjoy a simple winter treat -- sliding down a hill on a toboggan. A snowy backyard hill has been hard to find this month, but that didn't stop Todd Moe from signing up to build a wooden toboggan at the Adirondack Folk School in Lake Luzerne.

Historically an important method of transportation for native American peoples, the toboggan is probably the simplest sled in design, consisting of nothing more than slats of wood curved at the front. Building one requires patience...and a lot of sanding.  Go to full article

Feb 12, 2010 — For the first time ever, the Adirondack Park Agency will allow the use of a chemical herbicide to kill invasive water plants inside the blue line. More than 1500 pounds of triclopyr will be used in Lake Luzerne in the spring, in an effort to fight Eurasian water milfoil. Yesterday's precedent-setting decision comes as more lakes and ponds across the Adirondacks are struggling with the invasive weed. Lake Luzerne-Hadley, NY, Feb 21, 2000 — By the age of twelve, Clarence Richards was playing fiddle for local dances in the Corinth area of Saratoga County and substituting for the caller when necessary. Early in his music career, he lost his left hand in a paper mill accident, but within six months he had discovered a way to continue playing. "Daddy Dick" was an early entertainer on Radio WGY in Schenectady. He has performed with many prominent country and bluegrass music stars.  Go to full article
