50 years ago today: electricity in the crowd, power in the moment

NCPR GM Ellen Rocco was one of the estimated 250,000 people crowding the space between the Washington Monument and The Lincoln Memorial 50 years ago today.

She was far back in the crowd. There were no Jumbotrons; there was no live tweeting. She could see just tiny figures at the podium. But there were loudspeakers for the speeches, and there was lots of music and singing.
