Schumer Visits Lewis County and Massena

Senator Chuck Schumer outlined his agenda of North Country issues in two appearances yesterday. New York's senior senator discussed a statewide snowmobile insurance plan in Brantingham in Lewis County. Tribe Uncovers Tobacco Tax Scheme

Mohawks' Catskills Casino Faces Many Obstacles

For nearly a decade, the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe has been aiming to build a Las Vegas-style casino in the Catskill Mountains, less than a hundred miles away from the lucrative New York City market. In 2001, the tribe seemed closer than ever to success, when New York's legislature authorized six new native-owned casinos. McHugh: Airport Discussions May Continue

A recent decision by the Department of Transportation did not completely rule out the possibility of air service to Albany for passengers from Massena and Ogdensburg airports. A petition by the upstate communities to change the destination hub from Pittsburgh was denied.
