But many North Country schools are still struggling financially. They're not getting the state aid they need. They've cut staff and classes. And next year, many schools still have will have to dip into their fund balances to pay for programs. Yesterday at St. Lawrence University, educators and community leaders came together at an annual gathering called the North Country Symposium. Nov 21, 2013 — Two of the North Country's most prominent villages have begun studying the possibility of merging their school districts.
14 people from Canton and 14 from Potsdam met for their first joint advisory committee meeting last night. After a six month study led by a consulting group from Buffalo, they'll decide whether to recommend merging the two school districts. Go to full article
Potsdam, NY, Aug 16, 2011 — Officials with SUNY Canton say the recent announcement that the college would be losing its popular president Joe Kennedy next year has meant a loss of donations. The State University of New York in Albany intends for the Canton college to share a president with SUNY Potsdam.
