Eagle Bay, NY, Jan 13, 2012 — This weekend in Blue Mountain Lake, the Adirondack Museum will host a lecture on the Chester Gillette murder trial. The 1906 murder of Grace Brown on Big Moose Lake was one of the biggest national scandals of its day. The case inspired "American Tragedy," one of the great novels of the 20th century. In the decades since, the story of Grace Brown and Chester Gillette has sparked more novels, operas, folk songs, Hollywood films and documentaries. Potsdam, NY, Nov 02, 2011 — Potsdam police are turning to the public for help in their investigation into the homicide death of a 12 year-old boy last week.

In a press release yesterday, the department says it has distributed 1500 fliers seeking information about the death of Garrett Phillips.

The sixth grader was found unconscious last Monday in the Market Street apartment where he lived with his mother. He died later that evening.  Go to full article

Indian Lake, NY, Oct 05, 2010 — We continue our series, the Adirondack Attic, with Andy Flynn. You may know Andy from his series of "Adirondack Attic" books on local history. He uses the objects people make, use and leave behind to tell stories about the life and times of the region. Aug 03, 2010 — State police have begun excavating a site in the Adirondack town of Minerva that they think may be a thirty-year-old murder scene.

A local woman named June Collard vanished in November of 1980. Last month, her former husband, Thomas Collard, allegedly confessed to killing her and hiding her body. As Brian Mann reports, local officials are working with police in an effort to find the victim's remains.  Go to full article
