(03/23/12) Gore Mt. ski area closed yesterday. The mountain's operators had hoped to stay open through the weekend, but the unseasonably warm, sunny weather got ahead of them.
Andy Flynn was there yesterday and found a lot of mud and running water as the snow was melting fast. (Andy is host of our Adirondack Attic series, and reports for the News Enterprise.)

(02/17/12) We'll preview a weekend of plays by Thornton Wilder at the Tannery Pond Community Center in North Creek. The Our Town Theatre Group's winter production is actually a trio of short plays by Wilder that help define who we are as Americans and family identity. Todd Moe talks with director Lindsey Gates about the "Wilder Weekend" in North Creek.
(09/07/11) This year marks the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War. Commemorative events are being held throughout the Northeast, including small towns. North Creek's Civil War weekend begins this Friday and will include lectures, historic photo displays and re-enactors in period uniforms. Todd Moe talks author and local historian Glenn Pearsall about the sacrifices Adirondack families made in the war. Pearsall says small towns, like North Creek and Johnsburg lost many of their young men in battle.
(06/10/11) The North Creek Business Alliance organized the first annual North Creek Brew Fest on the Hudson in order to help fund a winter shuttle to Gore Mountain and make the town a destination. Sarah Harris was there to sample the festivities.
(04/20/11) Adirondack hermit Noah John Rondeau kept extensive journals of daily life in the wilderness. But much of it was written in code. Todd Moe talks with Dave Greene, who cracked Rondeau's coded memoirs. Greene will give a public presentation on breaking Noah John's code in North Creek on Saturday night.
Donations will be accepted for ALAP, a partnership of Protect the Adirondacks with the Adirondack Watershed Institute of Paul Smiths.
(03/17/11) The Our Town Theatre Group kicks off its 15th season with the classic comedy, Arsenic and Old Lace this weekend. Performances are at the Tannery Pond Community Center in North Creek Friday and Saturday nights (7:30) and Sunday afternoon (2 pm). The show features more than a dozen local actors. Todd Moe spoke with director Eric Potter who says the play tells the story of the Brewster family and their freinds and neighbors. The story introduces the audience to Aunt Abby and Aunt Martha Brewster who share their kindness and cooking with everyone they meet.
(10/18/10) The Our Town Theatre Group's fall production of "Dinner With Friends" opens at the Tannery Pond Community Center in North Creek on Friday night. Todd Moe spoke with director Colleen Potter about the Pulitzer Prize winning play that's the story of two couples -- four friends -- who journey and struggle together down the road of life into middle age.
(10/13/10) Two years ago, the Adirondack Park Agency approved a massive new resort in North Creek. Front Street Mountain Development was meant to bring more than 130 luxury condos to the village, along with five hotels, restaurants and a riding stable. The idea was to tie the resort in with the North Creek ski bowl, offering ski-from-your door condominiums.
But so far, only one model home has been built and no properties in the resort have been sold. As Brian Mann reports, local officials are questioning the project's future. more
(08/05/10) Hundreds of runners are expected to compete in the annual "Race the Train" run in North Creek this Saturday, August 7. It's a fundraiser for the "Dollars for Scholars" program. The money helps local students pursue their college studies. Todd Moe spoke with organizer Ann Arsenault about the 9th annual race. She says a new addition this year is a pasta dinner for runners on Friday night.
Gore mt. is an economic engine for Warren County.
(03/25/10) The state Assembly issued its proposed spending blueprint yesterday. Democratic leaders there proposed saving the Ogdensburg Correctional Facility. They also called for full funding for the Olympic Regional Development Authority. Martha Foley has more.
