State Nursing Home Grant Could Be Mixed Blessing

New York Health Commissioner Antonia Novello visited Saranac Lake Friday, to announce a $700,000 grant for the Adirondack Medical Center. The money is part of a statewide effort to close a shortage in healthcare workers at hospitals and nursing homes. United Helpers Canton Nursing Home Employees to Vote on Unionization

The SEIU, which represents hospital and nursing home workers in northern New York is calling on legislators to adopt regulations guaranteeing adequate staffing at nursing homes.
