Still swingin? after all these years
Jul 24, 2008 — Stop by the park in downtown Oxbow tonight and you'll likely meet Beulah Walrath. Actually, she'll probably introduce herself. Beulah has been the local historian and music promoter in this village on the St. Lawrence and Jefferson County border for years. She organizes the Summer Concert Series. The country and western swing brings out a lot of local folks. Some sit in their cars. Others bring lawn chairs and blankets. And Beulah leads the dancers in front of the village gazebo. Inspires, really. Beulah was crippled in a car accident in 1995. But after years of therapy and a positive attitude, she's back to her favorite hobby. Todd Moe has this audio profile. Napoleon's Brother in the North Country
Oct 22, 2002 — David Sommerstein visits the historic Benton House in the town of Oxbow in Jefferson County, the former home of Joseph Bonaparte's extramarital daughter. In the 1800s, the basement was used as a temporary jail and a secret tunnel may have been a part of the Underground Railroad. Go to full article
Forest Fire Near Oxbow
Aug 22, 2002 — Jefferson county fire crews are fighting what they call a small but stubborn forest fire near the town of Oxbow the northern part of the county. Jefferson county deputy fire director Greg Brunell says the fire started ten days ago when a property owner failed to fully extinguish a campfire. Todd Moe has more. Go to full article
