(04/17/12) The latest campaign filings for the 21st district House race show Congressman Bill Owens leading his Republican challenger in the race to raise cash for November's election.
Owens - a Democrat from Plattsburgh -- has raised nearly twice as money as Republican challenger Matt Doheny from Watertown.
But as Brian Mann reports, those straight fundraising numbers may not tell the whole story. more

(03/19/12) Republicans gathered in Rochester Friday to pick a candidate to challenge Democratic Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.
Former governor George Pataki was the keynote speaker at the Republican convention in Rochester. Pataki praised the current Democratic governor, Andrew Cuomo, saying Cuomo's "made some very positive steps." But Pataki gave a fiery speech against President Barack Obama and he says this year's election is a fight for the very "soul" of the nation. more
(01/05/10) Three years after securing $5 million in taxpayer funds to try and attract world-class winter sports events, including another Olympics, the Lake Placid Regional Winter Sports Committee has spent a little more than $300,000 and hasn't brought a single event to the area. But members of the committee, made-up of prominent Lake Placid resort owners and allies of former Governor George Pataki, say much of their work has been happening out of the public eye. They also say they're being conservative with the $5 million as they work on a plan to possibly bring a Youth Olympics to the Lake Placid region. Chris Knight has the story.

(08/28/07) Former Governor George Pataki was in Tupper Lake Monday to tour the Wild Center. It was his first visit to the facility which he helped to build by earmarking more than $14 million in taxpayer funds for the project. Museum officials showed their gratitude, announcing that the main exhibition hall will be renamed in Pataki's honor. Brian Mann reports.
