NYS fines CSX for failure to report derailments

The New York State Department of Transportation has fined the rail company CSX $10,000 for failing to report two derailments of trains carrying crude oil. According to a press release, the company didn't report last week that an empty train that had recently offloaded crude oil from North Dakota derailed near Kingston.

The DOT says three days later, CSX took two hours to report derailed tankers full of crude oil south of Albany. No oil was spilled in either incident. The causes of both remain under investigation.  Go to full article
