North Country Senator on GOP Platform Committee
Aug 30, 2004 — State senator Ray Meier is one of two New York members of the GOP platform committee. The committee met last week; the convention is expected to adopt the platform in its first formal action Monday morning. Meier represents Lewis County and parts of St. Lawrence and Oneida counties in the state Senate. He is known as a conservative in Albany. But his place on the political spectrum wasn't so clear on the national platform committee. The committee is made up of two members from each state and each US territory. Friday, Meier told Martha Foley there were substantive debates - and differing priorities from different regions of the country.
