It turns out local bathhouses are adding hot tap water to bring the baths to a more comfortable temperature. Jan 12, 2005 — Another of Governor Pataki's state authorities has come under fire for poor management and inappopriate spending. In an audit released yesterday, state comptroller Alan Hevesi slammed the New York Racing Association for wasting more than a million dollars. Horse racing fans in Saratoga Springs won't see the widely anticipated rematch Saturday, between Funny Cide and Empire Maker. Both horses were pulled from the one million dollar Travers stakes because of health problems. This is just the latest bad news for New York's three billion dollar horse racing industry, which faces allegations of corruption and money laundering.
