At World Championships, US bobsled team races to prove it can recapture Olympic momentum

The best bobsled and skeleton racers are competing in Lake Placid this week in the 2012 World Championships. The competition will be a big test for the American bobsled team, which has struggled this year on the World Cup tour.

The US team is hoping to prove that its Olympic gold medal at the last Winter Olympis was no fluke and the program can sustain the funding and technical support needed to match the Europeans.

NASCAR drivers fuel American bobsled renaissance

The World Cup bobsled championships will be held next month in Lake Placid. Athletes from all over the world will compete on the Olympic track at Mt. Van Hoevenberg. The Americans will be riding a new generation of high-tech sleds, designed by a team that once built racing cars for NASCAR.
